The curtain rose for the six edition of the International film festival in Rome that will immerse the capital into the world of cinema until November 4. A week of exhibits, film, events, actors, directors, Italian and international, amongst the most anticipated are Wim Wenders, Riccardo Scamarcio, Noomi Rapace, Michelle Yeoh, Sergio Rubini, Charlotte Rampling, Felicity Jones, Kristin Scott Thomas, Olivia Newton-John, Isabelle Huppert, Micaela Ramazzotti e Claudia Gerini.
A lucky edition for the Italian cinema that presents four of the fifteen competing productions in the Official Selection that will be evaluated by an international jury presided by Maestro Ennio Morricone. The first italian film, Il Mio Domani was presented by Marina Spada. Pippo Mezzapesa will follow on Saturday 29 with his "Il paese delle spose infelici", a drama based on the novel by Mario Desiati. Director Pupo Avati is in a spotlight on November 1 that brings to Rome "Il cuore grande delle ragazze, a memory of peasant Italy of the '30s that marks the film debut of Cesare Cremonini. Ivan Cotroneo closes the Italian foursome with the "Kryptonite in the bag" (in programming November 2), a family story that takes place in Naples in the 70s with Valeria Golino, Christian Capotondi, Luca Zingaretti, Libero De Rienzo, Fabrizio Gifuni and Luigi Catani.
Italy is also well represented outside of the Competition, first of all with Toto' in 3D - The funniest show on earth (directed by Mario Mattioli, 1953), to be previewed during this sixth edition of the festival. Alessandro Siani will be the god father of this outstanding restored version in 3D Italian cinema classics. "L’industriale" by Giuliano Montaldo and "Someday This Pain Will Be Useful to You" by Roberto Faenza will follow.
